Circular Constant 円周率: The circular constant shows that the circumference is what times of diameter. 円周率は、円の周囲が円の直径の何倍なのかを示しています。 It was decided 3 in Old Testament. 旧約聖書では円周率を３としています。 It is known that 3.125 in Babylonia and 3.1604 in Egypt 3700 years ago from the record of the clay board and papyrus. 粘土板やパピルスの記録から、3700年前、すでに、バビロニアでは3.125、 エジプトでは3.1604という数値が知られていたことがわかっています。 It is said that π was begun to use by Leonard Euler who was a mathematician of Germany in 18 century. 円周率を表すπは、18世紀のドイツの数学者、 レオナルド・オイラー（1707～1783）が使い始めたといわれています。 The circumference is called periphery in Latin and the initial p contains π in Greek.　And then　π was used. ラテン語で周りのことをperiphery（ペリフェリ）といい、 この頭文字pがギリシア文字ではπにあたるので、 πが使われるようになったのです。 Archimedes calculated the circular constant as follows. He drew right hexagon which borders inside the circle 1 in diameter and calculated the surrounding length. Nest, he calculated the surrounding length of the right 12 polygon and continued to the right 96 polygon. And he also calculated the surrounding length of the right hexagon to the right 96 polygon that borders outside the circle. Then he calculated that the circumference is bigger than the length of the right 96 polygon that borders inside the circle, 3.140845 and smaller than the right 96 polygon that borders outside the circle, 3.142857. In other case, Socyushi of China in 5 century, Rudolf of Germany in 16 century, Shigekiyo Muramatsu and Kazutaka Seki of Japan in Edo period calculated as the same way of Archimedes. Shanks of England calculated it below decimal point 707 digit in 1873 and it was used for long time.
